Glenroy Single Vineyard Shiraz

From the northern Glenroy sub-region of Coonawarra, this Single Vineyard Shiraz has a distinctive depth of colour, flavour and an intensity distinguishing itself from other wines of the region.

The palate has deep currants and plum, backed with solid tannins which coat the mouth, matching the intensity of the fruit and holding strong through the finish. The ‘Glenroy’ Shiraz has aromas of dark plum and ripe cherry, with dark chocolate, tobacco and charry toasted oak.

THE STORY

Behind the name

Glenroy is a northern sub-region of Coonawarra named after the Glenroy Station. The station was a large landholding to the north of the Coonawarra township and fruit colony.

This northern ridge of Terra Rossa produces fruit with deep concentration and fragrance, ripening slightly earlier than the rest of the Coonawarra strip.

THE STORY

Winemaking

The Glenroy vineyard is situated in the Coonawarra township and receives extra care, with hand-pruning and picking. Fermented in ten-tonne stainless steel fermenters, pumped over twice per day for extraction of colour and flavour.

Once primary fermentation was complete the parcel was basket pressed and filled into a selection of French & American oak. Matured for 22 months before, the wine was racked and fined bottled with little alterations and minimal handling.
